What is The Devotional Compass?
The Devotional Compass is a personal orientation tool for navigating the deep and open waters of living in a conscious and aligned way in these liminal times. It marries the openness of apparently infinite possible choices with the grounding honesty of being a real person living in a real place at a real time, who wants to live in their own integrity.
The 6-Week Workshop guides participants in articulating their specific and personal devotions in the spirits of each of the 8 Directions with which we work, and pairs that verbal articulation (Mantra) with a movement-articulation of the body (Kriya). The workshop is designed to support participants’ movement towards conscious devotion rooted in their bodies and integrated into their daily lives.
With Your Liminary Facilitators:
Josie Siegel and David Chott
Josie is an impractical mystic and teacher of mystery. She is a ritual artist and philosopher of revolutionary, feminine, ecological ontologies. She is devoted to becoming specific to her nature, her people, and her place. Josie is a threshold guardian, death doula, and conflict (re)mediator with certifications and degrees that corroborate the natural, fermented knowing that comes from her listening deeply and loving the Earth, our real (edible, cultured, devouring, responsive) god.
David is a practical mystic and student of mystery. He sees us as living in a time between worlds, and works to build culture that includes awareness of our intuitive felt sense and the invaluable wisdom it provides to navigate our collective challenges. He has been facilitating presence-centered group work for 8 years. David became a certified circling facilitator with Circling Europe in 2017, and completed his coaching certification with them in 2021. He trained extensively in Surrendered Leadership in the Avalon field, and has deeply explored men's work for 15 years. He's a current student of John Churchill in Planetary Dharma, and studies with Lynda Caesara in her remarkable Energy Class.

a timelapse example of what a Devotional Compass May look like without the words:
-
In a world of accelerating complexity and spiraling uncertainty, how do we wisely navigate our lives in relation to something we can trust? We are in a profound period of collective disorientation as anything resembling a consensus reality is unraveling before our eyes. Perhaps you recognize the cultural norms and patterns of living you inherited no longer fit your present circumstances particularly well. Your navigation system needs some updating. Maybe you are feeling pretty disoriented and want support centering and orienting yourself in a shifting landscape. You might have clear intentions for how you want to reorient yourself, but are finding it challenging to make the transition to living it in an embodied way.
-
Clarify and sharpen your deepest devotions that bring you into alignment with yourself (your center) and your purpose (your edge). Receive support crafting and refining your personal compass to bring your devotions into relationship with the body of the Earth by anchoring them in the cardinal directions and the sovereign axis mundi of above and below. Learn to root your devotional compass into your body and soul through the ritual repetition of enacting your embodied compass.
-
Draw inspiration from being in an intentional cohort of devoted humans supporting each other to uncover shared threads of collective intention, mutuality of care, depth of presence. Fortify your self-inquiry by witnessing others in theirs. We're not meant to do this alone, and participation in the group field heightens your attunement to your own innate wisdom.
A Poetic Invitation from Josie:
Life always, always bears our curiosity, our deeper leaning-in.
Have you noticed?
In every direction is some kind of fascination,
flaking canyons of tree bark, glimmer-tips of the hairs on the cat's tail,
a kicked wind, a broad and star-soaked sky,
an emerging crease in the face of a beloved.
Especially these days,
our ancestral tastes for fascination, for trance, for diversity of state
meet vast oceans of hypnosis
oversaturated agnosis,
a truly acrobatic absence of what actually grounds us here,
of what we actually are,
of the deep soul of being.
So, here we are,
ancestrally tuned for fascination, for ecstasy, for awe,
turning to face the glinting edges of our own evolution
and co-evolutionary interbecoming,
right in time.
Right in time,
at the cliff-edge of the known world.
Best we have a good multidimensional compass,
trued to our devotions, our living vows.
